I wrote a love story. Not yet in English.

This time I’m writing under my real name. To thank you and to let you know about my book, a love story about the occupation.

Dear Readers,

I want to thank you for the time you dedicate to reading Umm Forat’s blog. I started writing it with some self-consciousness but also with a genuine desire to share. I chose to use a pen name to protect a bit of privacy, even as I expose personal details of our family’s life.

Now I am revealing my identity. My book, “Maqluba – Upside Down Love”, is being published in Hebrew by Asia publishers. The book, written as a dialogue in two voices, describes how Osama and I met and fell in love. Today a book blogger in the Israeli daily Haaretz published a favorable review of it.

I’m publishing the book under my real name: Sari Bashi. So … nice to meet you. I’ll keep writing the blog under the pen name, “Umm Forat,” and I hope you’ll continue to read it.

“Maqluba” is in bookstores in Israel and also available to order online, and I’m working on an English translation.
